Celebrating Cultural Diversity in the World’s Hottest Borough

Celebrating cultural diversity in the world’s hottest borough, World Brooklyn resides in the Brooklyn Children’s Museum as the museum’s permanent cultural exhibition. Set as 5,000 square foot urban streetscape inspired and collaged from real retail establishments in Brooklyn, World Brooklyn teaches children about Brooklyn’s diverse ethnic communities through engaging hands-on activities and role-playing in familiar retail environments.

koolgirlposse implemented a broad range of graphic styles to create several distinct store identities that still fit under the umbrella of the World Brooklyn exhibition look and feel. Within each store identity, we developed several bright and lively color palettes with kid appeal that drove the selection of materials and finishes by architects and fabricators.

Over 700 graphic panels were designed with original illustrations to educate and easily communicate activity instructions, augmented by rich ethnic patterns and motifs that conveyed the cultural flavor of each space.
